Flying boots....
Nutloose - you are dead right. I 'wigged' the sole pattern of his boot and it was definitely the same flying boot 'square type' pattern I had used for 38 yrs in the RAF... That flying boot pattern didn't come in until well after the TLP period ('67) and was replaced about 10 yrs ago. Anyway what's a copper doing wearing flying kit!!

Yep, what initially gave it away to me was the sole and the padded top edge of the boot, I replayed and froze it... Sad I know, but hey ho
"Mildly" Eccentric Stardriver
Don't forget, they were producing a drama, not a documentary. On that basis, I would mark it quite highly. More right than wrong to my mind.

For today's generation, it was a reasonable bit of drama[?].
For those who had been there, or knew those days, it was reasonably close.
For those in Singapore at the time, we had much more fun

I enjoyed the drama and the plot was reasonable, but sadly it didn’t stir any feelings of the atmosphere in Aden in the mid sixties.
TT - I fancied Essie Davis

Re boots - as a rockape I was wearing DMS boots in 1966, and jealous of just about everyone else at Khormaksar who was wearing desert boots. DMS stood for directly moulded soles, and hadn't long replaced the old drill boots with nailed leather soles. Pretty sure the army were wearing the same.
MPN, I was posted to Singapore the following year and you are damn right! Certainly made up for lost time.

IIRC, of the 8 plt offs on my ATC course, 5 went straight overseas (I remember one went to El Adem and one to RAFG).

Ok guys. As it appears that I am not going to get an answer to my question on this forum, I might as well back to Arrse, where the Pongo's do at least respond to posts.
As to the actual programme, I thought it was s**t at pretty much every level.

All you need do is take time to read back through the posts, and your query should be answered. But maybe, judging by your last words, Arrse is your proper domain.

Pleased I managed to needle some responses out of you guys. As I said, the Army guys on ARRSE do appear to read posts and respond to them pretty quickly. In general, their views on The Last Post, seem to echo mine.
TV Drama wise, to each his own.

By the way, the RMP were stationed in Little Aden in 64/66.

Yes, it's always welcoming to sensible inputs, but it's not a place to chuck your weight around. 'Porridge Gun' would survive 5 minutes max around here

I once took the G/F to Little Aden for a day out and ran into some Officers of the 3rd East Anglian Regt which was a surprise because I was a 2nd Lt in the same outfit in 1962. In 1966 I was a Fg Off in the RAF on 105 Sqn and I have to say it was the best move I ever made in the Services. You can keep Arrse and its views pitched at ankle height.
