I wonder why the female pilot transferred from the RAF to the Army?

When you look at the photos and that of our recent VC winner, do none of these people actually possess a number one uniform or what ever you call it these days? They will be turning up in grow bags next.

Btw congratulations all round bar the above comments.

The press days are in working dress for some reason. Investiture is definitely numbers ones.

Seems promotion might be quicker in the Army!

Both thoroughly well deserved awards. Many congratulations to both

Perhaps Apache is top of her bucket list.

Edit: Posted in answer to the question posted by Vendee.

Mail on Sunday take....in a similar vein to the reporting by one of the papers about the award of the VC to "the first living recipient"

First female pilot to win Distinguished Flying Cross medal braved Taliban rockets to save Afghan mother
The article does clarify that it is the first DFC to a female in Afghanistan later but a misleading headline again.

Good taste? Or she grew up? Or perhaps she reads PPRune!

"The pair were given their medals last week ..."
No they weren't, that will happen later at an investiture, where as Jerry Can has already pointed out, number ones will be worn.

And I remember pilots leaving Teeny Weeny Airways to go to CrabAir as they thought promotion was quicker!
