Flt Lt Tim Eddy AFC

Congratulations to Flt Lt Tim Eddy AFC for exercising outstanding captaincy skills in executing the evacuation of 182 civilians from South Sudan in a C-17 in less than ideal circumstances:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/m...l-honours-list

Reduced runway length available due to a crashed B737.
Assessed runway available from the air using binos.
Low fuel / steep approach / max braking.
All engines running hot refuel.
Loaded 182 PAX vs more normal 100 PAX.

A lot could have gone wrong but thankfully did not.

Congratulations Tim on a job well done.

Having worked with 99 Squadron since their inception with C 17s, I would like to
say that this is typical of the amazing "can-do" spirit of of the Squadron.

Well done Tim and all of 99.
