I realize the Greenham comment was tongue-in-cheek, but when was the last time a sizeable closed facility in Europe was reopened by either US or UK? Not counting re-roling of airfields to Army barracks, e.g. Kinloss, Cottesmore etc. I mean closed shut, as in reopening the likes of Coltishall. Has it ever been done?

Molesworth has never closed
The infrastructure from the GAMA (GLCM Alert and Maintenance Area) is largely intact

Greenham has nothing left Roadster, the runways were dug up and that part of the site turned into a nature reserve.

You wouldn't want to stay at Colt these days it is a pedo prison based on the domestic area.
I suppose the last one closed and deactivated is Lynham, but it would probably be on care and maintenance then is coming back online only as a training unit and is in hand at the moment unless it changes, stupid things on the plans though, like planting trees down the side of the runway thus rendering it unusable.

Trees alongside the runway? No problem!

At least, not for Thunderbird 2.

https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...al_summary.pdf

There you go Peregrine, 90% new build for all the buildings and only 10% of the existing ones staying.

You would be better building Thunderbird 5, that way you could call in International Rescue to look for Subs off the coast..

The brochure shows fitting an engine in a Harrier for the training side..... that'll come in handy..
