Politics and Weather
My grandfather was an officer in the Canadian Army when The Great War broke out. I recently found his diaries. On the page for August 4 1914 is the entry:
War declared, rain in the afternoon.
Gives a whole new meaning to the adjective "Laconic"

Spike Milligan said something similar in one of his memoirs, they must have had the same sense of humour.

May one mention "... broad, sunlit, uplands ..." by WSC?
