Request for anybody in South Wales tomorrow (5th September)

At 9am tomorrow, there will be a series of formation flyovers by military aircraft from various NATO countries, over Celtic Manor Resort (the Summit venue). If anybody is in the area tomorrow and can get a chance, could you film it please and post it on here? I'm nowhere near Wales, unfortunately.

Typhoons from the RAF and other air forces, Polish MiG's, F-15's, F-16's, F-18's, etc. etc. as well as an RAF Voyager and the Reds are finishing it off.

If I didn't have an alcoholic engagement tonight I'd consider driving over and nightstopping.

Thanks, Lofty. Hope you have a safe flight mate. What are you flying?

Coffman got there before me. Although I found it on a welsh air enthusiast website the other day while digging for information on the Summit venue, if I remember correctly.

IMHO, what is probably a largely unrehearsed formation flypast has all the makings of a complete shambles! Perhaps every section formates on its Typhoon but let's hope the F18 driver is switched on!

It will either be very good or interviews without coffee.

I'm guessing the lead aircraft of the third section is German?

I did suspect that's the main reason why the Voyager will show up, for air to air refuelling of the jets.

I'm not sure the reds are AAR capable though?

Oh well, it's a good excuse to get more experience for the Voyager crews.

In that picture why does the third Typhoon in the formation become a Eurofighter? did someone adopt that name or is it just an error?

Just an error Nutloose. Despite not being intially too enthusiastic about the name, the Germans have (like all the other nations) since adopted the Typhoon moniker.

I wish it showed more aircraft instead of politicians grouped together and David Cameron explaining what each aircraft is!

Thanks for posting that. As said, hopefully there's a video later showing more aircraft and less politicians. I'm surprised the F-22 didn't make an appearance. That's the star of the US Air Force at the moment, isn't it?

It is Typhoon93, but all the USAF aircraft that took part are based in Europe. The F-22 isn't.
