RAF Policy on misdisagnosed Asthma
The mention of Ruddles at North Luffenham reminds me of a game of darts whilst on an aeromed course there - one player was an American, who was warned of the potential effect of said beverage. He took not a lot of notice, and his evening ended as he threw a dart - and followed through perfectly until his body hit the floor!
Many decades ago (5), when the Earth was cooling, I used to have fairly regular migraines. I mentioned this when applying for a flying scholarship and was turned down flat.
Two years later I applied to join the Fleet Air Arm and didn't mention it. Unfortunately they found I had an Atrial Septal Defect but after open-heart surgery, I was accepted. It transpired that there was a link between ASD and migraine and I have never had another attack.
Not sure what the moral of the story is but total honesty can sometimes be a bummer!
