Reds over Cheltenham?!

Why have the Red Arrows just flown directly over my house - v formation, about 7 of them at about 2,500ft headed East?

A fine sight.

I believe they were on their way to (or back from) the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The crowd at the Heineken Cup final only got to hear them pass as the roof had to be closed because of ensuing bad weather. Unlucky!

They also did Gilford in Northern Ireland at midday. For those scrabbling for their old 250k, its between Portadown and Banbridge; a country fair at the castle. Their commentator is probably eating quiche tonight, as he was flown in chicken leg to the show.

Wink

Cardiff would explain it. Why not at a more efficient altitude though?

Cool Reds over Cheltenham

W.W.W,

Dunno precisely where you live, but presumably 2,500 AGL puts them below controlled airspace and above most of my fellow glider pilots, although if the weather down there was like here, I expect they had the sky to themselves!

It also puts them above the UKLFS on a weekend. Good drills.

They were that high because they are all fast jet fags who don't know what REAL low flying is. Smoke off! Smoke off! STOP!

Any punter can write to them giving details of their local village fete etc and if it is on route to an Air Show/Display, they will give an overfly.

Over me

They flew over me next to Gloucestershire Airport at 15.00 local.
Two flights of V formation, at probably 250ft/300ft?

I agree its quite a trek to Cottesmore in 4 minutes

Cottesmore to Cheltenham is 75nm - in 4 minutes?

Shall we assume that someone has it just a tad wrong. With a g/s of 250kts it would take 18 minutes - ish!

Still he did say 'around 1500'.

They are coming for their annual visit to the TT next week over here on the IOM.

However, I will be too busy doing my own type of low flying in a Honda Accord Type R traffic car, formating on enemy bikers

TOO CLOSE FOR MISSILES - SWITCHING TO GUNS!!!!!

Can almost smell the napalm now - or is it burning rubber?

You can all count yourselves incredibly fortunate. What I wouldn't give just to see a single display by the best in the world, BAR NONE. Haven't seen them since I left UK in 1983!

Kind regards,

Transit flying all at 1000 ft - lower for flypasts. Keeps it above mil low flying traffic and below GAT. Cardiff flypast was a bit higher due to the biggest crane ever, sticking up from side of stadium. Not that it really mattered when the roof was closed.
