Bombing Comps

I know the military is much smaller these days but I wonder why there is no place for bombing / gunnery competitions?

The last time I heard of one was in the late 90s when Wainfleet used to do the red nose day events.

Smart @ss

But I suppose if your getting regular practice. Mind you with the present Bloke running the world its only the drone operators getting time in.

Did I just mistake Obama for being a bloke

Bombing comps with expensive precision weapons just aren't as attractive as when using dumb practice bombs!

Wainfleet '01. Tried in '03 and increased the period to the whole week. Not one bomb as we were socked out the whole time. Thereafter, as 500N has said, nix.

There had been a few sqn comps at Marham but that was that.

Besides the '01 Comp has Tornado, Harrier, Sea Harrier, Jaguar, Hawk, F15. Spot what's missing.

The last USAF Gunsmoke competition was held in 1995.

The USAF now holds Hawgsmoke every 2 years for A-10s:
