Typhoon Down In Spain

Breaking news on the BBC.

Eurofighter accident at Spanish Moron base near Seville

A Eurofighter jet has been involved in an "accident" on the runway of military base in southern Spain, defence officials have told the BBC.

Authorities have not yet said if there were any casualties, but one pilot was believed to have been in the plane.

Local media say the accident happened at the Moron air base near Seville.

The base is shared by Spain and the US Air Force, but of the two, only Spain operates the Eurofighter jet.

Has anyone else lost a Typhoon? I seem to recall 3 losses- all from Spain- an early twin sticker (dual flame out/systems loss IIRC), another loss with a Saudi pilot and now this one (unsure of status at this point, hoping for the best). A few other high profile nose gear incidents, but seems to be a good write off record.

Boys and girls, perhaps it would be appropriate to keep this thread pure, given the fact a mucker is dead, rather than 'massive thread drift' and the like.

RIP brother.
