Happy birthday Lossiemouth.
Yesterday RAF Lossiemouth celebrated it's 75 anniversary. As an RAF Station and a Royal Navy base.
I'm sure the place must bring memories to some people on here.

In celebration of RAF Lossiemouth's 75th birthday on 1 May 2014, the Station is producing a commemorative whisky in partnership with Gordon and Macphail. Only 300 bottles of this limited edition 21 year old Speyside Single Malt will be available for sale. The bottles will be priced at £75 and all of the Stn's profits will be split between the RAFBF and a local charity. The whisky will be delivered in time for the Station's birthday, so reserve your bottle(s) now before they all go. All of the bottles will be flown in a 202 Sqn (D Flt) Sea King helicopter, as featured on the front of the carton.
To reserve your individually numbered bottle(s) please contact either Mrs Diane Brown (01343 817214 or [email protected]) or Sqn Ldr Chalky White (01343 816175 or [email protected]).

RAF Lossiemouth
The Buccaneer Aircrew Association held its biennial dinner in the Officers Mess at Lossiemouth last night. 240 attendees- the largest gathering ever in the current mess and the largest gathering for dinner in a Lossie Mess since 350 attended the Buccaneer disbandment dinner, exactly 20 years ago. I had a very thick head this morning and we've got to do it all again tonight at the same venue.
Darvan,
great to hear about a very successful gathering, and my best wishes to all the Bucc fraternity who made the trip north. And in your case, how appropriate that you and Mrs Darvan represent both the RAF and RN !!

Many thanks BBadanov. You have obviously sussed me out but I'm struggling with your pseudonym. I am entertaining 2 of your compatriots next week that have travelled all the way from Aus. Lossie has been at its splendid best this weekend. Almost Mediterranean. Well almost.

Alsoi happy times. Never had a problem with bird strikes. The famous actor James Robertson Justice was leader of a sporting falcon group. They used to patrol the airfield - result - no birds. Met him when he had a jar in the wardroom, wearing a kilt of course.
Other famous moment, the Roman Catholic priest won £300 on the Irish sweepstake - not allowed to bet so put the money behind the bar. Maybe some converts as a result.
