One of the best poses by an ADC ?
Mutty,
you've clearly been out for a while. These days, the ADC would be a Sponsored Reserve from SODAMBACO Umbrella Solutions Consortium who provide the umbrellas under PFI arrangements at a through-life cost of £1.3 million each (CEO a former Air Mshl); The SRs are mainly ex SP (at present) with a discounted salary as they are in receipt of a military pension. However, in 5 years' time the ADCs will be Eastern Europeans with chunky boots and dressing like boat people. And don't have a Scooby about military ethos, terminology, history...but are much cheaper to employ.
And if you think I'm joking, visit the Mess at High Wycombe.

Good to see a SO holding the brolly for a retired JO
I can't work out which looks worse. Brown gloves with black shoes, or black shoes with brown gloves.

Would you ask for an expert opinion from someone with an honorary doctorate or from someone that worked hard in academia to actually earn it?

That's your prerogative, of course.
The fact remains, he's a Colonel, and his bag man is of a lower rank. Would you have his bag man be a Fg Offr?

He's Sqn Ldr Nick Costley, a very experienced helicopter pilot and one-time OC PTS, and you can bet your boots that regardless of the job he'd do it well!

Somewhat lacking in common sense though.
On returning the clear brolly to Her Royal Highness it will surely be wet on the inside!

I always wondered why RAF officers uniform officially including a pair of neatly folded brown gloves. Being a civilian one has a pair of brown gloves for when I wear brown shoes and black gloves for black shoes.
One does draw the line at blue gloves when wearing my blue suede shoes.

My gloves were woolly and colour coordinated.... Warm too
Blacksheep - The way it was told to me is that the brown glove/black shoes is a throwback to when the RAF was originally formed from the RNAS and RFC and was a nod towards the respective predecessors - brown gloves (Army), black shoes (Navy). I could have been misinformed though, if I have I am sure there will be someone better qualified than me on this forum to provide an answer.
