Something funny is going on at The Times. Within the last year they have published two letters, purporting to have come from junior naval officers, proposing the disbandment of the RAF. The first was ignored, the second answered by a retired Air Marshal, who pointed out that, although two thirds of the Earth's surface is covered by sea, it is all covered by air.
Well I certainly remember TSR2. I also remember that it was the negativity and pro-pusser bias of Earl Mountbottom which was mainly responsible for the murder of this world-beating ac. Along with Labour politicians and lethargic industry committees...............

TSR2 - a blast from the past! Cancellation was absolutely the right decision, but taken for all the wrong (political) reasons. A typical "English Electric" aeroplane - aerodynamically superb but utterly appalling engineering standards. If Wilson hadn't cancelled, we'd have had pre-service delays that would have made Eurofighter look as though it was bang on schedule!!

Having had letters published in the Times, they do ring you up to check you provided a number and to run editing decisions past you, and to ask whether you sent the letter elsewhere. They obviously have no background check ability to see if you are who you say you are, nor would they have access to the Army/Navy Lists surely?
