William Hague at Northolt

Just watching the BBC news of William Hague about to get on to an apparently RAF 146, but the roundels were 'hashed' out. Anyone else notice, who might be able to elaborate?

He has, so I can guess that they didn't want a signature ac in that part of the world. Not a very convincing disguise though!

When you say 'hash', do you mean the design on the cheatline, just aft of the cockpit, as per here?

The roundel is at the rear, as you can see. I've always assumed - and someone on here will know better - that the 'hash' is in fact the 32 Squadron marking, derived from the squadron's 'fighter bars' when it was on Venoms (and Canberras, for that matter).

That's it. I had a look for pictures before posting, but didn't have any luck.

It could be, however I worked on 32 for many years and whenever I heard this discussed the answer was always that the 3 white bars and 2 black bars simply stand for the squadron number, i.e. 3 - 2.
