Ohh they always went up and the selector worked as per the book, but to err is human, and hands up anyone that hasn't had a little hiccup

Yup been flying a few months now.

Nut,

In that case, I sat in it a week ago. It fitted like a glove.. a tight one.

Funny you mention wheels up, I was watching the battle of Britain
on youtube yesterday and the flare was fired to warn off the pilot
that was trying to land with the undercarriage up !

Nut,

Indeed - different diet in them days. I suppose if they were flying at my age, they'd have bulked out a bit too. Maybe..?

When you think they used to wear great big sheepskin boots, Gauntlets, trousers and jackets, topped off with a maywest etc it must have got a bit snug.

Very true. Not being able to get your circulation going at high altitude too. It would have got cold up there.. especially 'up there' in the PR.

What's the big silver item in the top middle of the cockpit shot, can't recall that being on the two BBMF Mk.19s? Nice to see the strong squadron parachute as well, same type that saved the Mustang driver at duxford.

It's the wall safe

It is a Camera Control unit, it clips on a bracket that is fitted in the aircraft for a navigation display, the pad can be removed and the controller fitted when on the ground to give it an authentic look.

A lot of people went over to those chutes when they saw how effective it was, it sort of sold itself to the warbird fraternity.
