"Team Brize"...
A night of glitz and glamour was the order of the day for RAF Brize Norton as around 200 personnel and special guests gathered for the Bravos Awards.
They are the station’s very own version of the Millies. It is the first year that the ceremony has been held, recognising military and civilian personnel that go that extra mile.

any awards for the catering in the 'Gateway'?? I'll get my coat (which is probably what I'm sleeping under while waiting for the delayed trooper..) 
(Not a dig at the lads and lasses at the coalface - just a show of incredulity that the upper echelons think this is appropriate given the 'service' presented to the rest of the military by the 'RAF's Transport Hub')

If you had bothered to look or understand what the night was about then you would have seen that it was aimed directly at thanking the very the 'Lads & Lasses' that you don't wish to have a dig at, many of whom go the extra mile to make sure that they try and make the AT experience as good as it can be despite the antiquated equipment, operating limitations you couldn’t begin to understand and the general ignorance of those that think they know how to run transport operations.

I have been involved in organising similar 'public recognition of our staff' events. I know first-hand what the underlying motives were in both of those cases. While the public/publicity face was similar to this, all the planning meetings were far more revealing. In those cases the highest priority was always to present the STATION in the best light, not necessarily the individual. When one of our awards might have possibly implied that the Station had erred and the individual had 'gone the extra mile' to correct the situation, that award was quietly dropped from the proceedings. In this case, I'd rather have seen the event budget spent on something that could provide tangible reward to ALL the Brize hard-workers - I'm sure a request for suggestions from the Brize personnel could have found something suitable (although it would obviously need to include the chance for the Station exec to don No5s and get the 'grip and grin' piccies into the media

Just my opinion - but if you don't want other's opinions then don't post links to articles on a public forum!

Some folk really do have a miserable outlook on life; the glass is definitely half full there.
Always found the folk at Brize were more than willing to put the extra effort in; always looked upon a Stn as being the folk that formed it so positive PR reflected on both at the end of the day. I guess it depends on what you want to see in life.

Without their efforts nothing could be achieved.
Without the tail there are no teeth!
Remember Napoleon's aphorism "an army is a creature which marches on its stomach".
He wasn't talking about avoiding live firing, he was talking about food and everything else the forward guys and gals need to live their lives
and continue to fight.
Deep respect for both the teeth and the tail - they deserve all the prizes they get - both front and back, because they're doing what is being asked of them as part of a sustained and co-ordinated national effort.

Think you are missing the obvious in terms of "RAF Praise" type affair, actually the link tickled my fancy and reflects a lot of the feelings of the real services when it comes to the civil servants in uniform, and yes I am baiting, so don't just fly off the handle!!!

Well done Brize! Whilst they're not the first station to do something like this, it looks as if a good time was had by all.
