Honoring the Fallen!
Every now and then we need a good warm and fuzzy.....and this Guy does that for us. He saw a problem and as a Marine usually does....he manned up to the Challenge.
One of my mates, a former Bosun's Mate in the Navy, is a part of this and plays the Bugle at Funerals and other occasions. Despite battling Cancer, he is still out there when asked or needed.
September 11th, he will be at a Veterans Ceremony blowing Taps four times....at the times each Airplane hit the WTC's, Pentagon, and crashed in Shanksville.
We owe a lot to these Volunteers.

I remember "Taps" from my training days in the US Army Air Corps in Florida and Alabama ('41- '42.). A lovely, haunting Call to end the day.

Yup, a true Gentleman in every sense, I wonder if all of those that use his services realise he is paying his own way..
I can imagine the horror as they laid some old vet to rest and played reveille, I bet the old vet in the coffin would have seen the funny side of it as he was buried.

I have left instructions that upon the end of the Service and the Flag is given to whoever is silly enough to claim being my Next of Kin.....the Bugler is sound "Charge" immediately after the Shout "Bar's Open....."Sasless" is buying!".

I've told them to scatter my ashes in Thirlmere lake, so all of Manchester can filter me through their teeth

An old buddy of mine from school days and a former Navy Cryto-Intercept specialist has a special request for his Korean Wife. He has told her to Cremate him, put the ashes into a Douche Bag and run him through one last time!
From there he is off down the Crapper to Muddy Creek, Yadkin River, Pee Dee River and finally to his burial in the Atlantic Ocean.

I had the honour to witness a series of Burials at Sea recently and I have to say the ceremony was incredibly well done, including Taps, ceremonial flag folding and shots fired.
All were Veterans who had earned this respect and it reminded me how much better the US looks after its Service members, even after retirement.
I have the utmost respect for all of those who have gone before, we will remember them.
