16Squadron in the 1960s

Hi Folks!

I am interested in the history of 16Sqn when stationed at Laarbruch and I wonder about the exact date when Wing Commander Holland became Squadron Commander!

It must have been around October 1960.

Research in the www. was not successful!

Does anyone know the exact date or maybe where to find it?

all the best

Wg Cdr Holland

Sorry, forgot to add that there are some ex-16 on Forcesreunited but can't imagine their memories are any better than mine! Most of us ex-Laarbruch survivors are too young to have known your man.

Hello,

The booklet, 'Badges, Bases & Bosses', published by The Canberra Association, indicates that 'Wg Cdr J E Holland DFC' took command of 16 Squadron 28 Oct 60

@FL575 Thank you very much!

Is this book only about Canberra Squadrons?
I, too wonder when in 1962(?) Wing Commander Swiney became the successor of Wg. Cdr. Sledmere, 5Squadron Javelin Laarbruch.....

regards
