It sure is a strange looking thing, such large rotors turning soo slowly. I guess the key to getting it to fly lay in materials technology. Good on them.

I thought it was pretty impressive.

Might not have any application in the real world
but the kudos of winning the prize no one else
has managed to win in 30 years would be enough.

It fulfills my criterion for a definition of a hicopleter -

looks more aerodynamic after a crash.

Well put it this way, it has actually met its primary performance targets unlike the CH-148 Cyclone!

I wonder if they can install a dipping sonar on it?
