Halfords trade card
I was recently in Halfords and got one of these with my ID, I didn't even have my REME association card with me, and obviously no trade certs. Well worth getting as they give a good discount. The professional range of tools are also good quality, with a lifetime warranty.
As an example, I was trying to get a torx T40 headed screw out of a motorcycle brake caliper. The first seven came out, but the eighth sheared the heads of my Sealey bits, both normal and long reach, and they have a lifetime warranty. I got one from Halfords, and on trying it I thought at first it was going to shear, but the screw gave and came out. The splines on the bit were twisted, but not broken, and I simply took it back to the shop and exchanged it for a new one.

Dunky,
You're not wrong the professional range is excellent value for money and top quality. I know of many civilian aircraft engineers who buy their own tools and swear by this range.
Anyone with a service ID will get a trade card. It takes 5 mins to do in-store. I recently bought a set of Ferodo brake pads and instead of the £27 price tag, I paid £14. Bulbs and wipers are cheap as chips too.

Customer service in Halfords used to be abysmal but since they were highlighted in a consumer report things have improved immensely. I swore I would never darken their doorstep again but I am more than happy to eat my words on that they really have turned it around. Great to hear that they offer this discount almost wish I was back in. Well almost!

Seconded on the Professional range - good quality at a very reasonable price and a free lifetime guarantee!

I have one too, this gives details who's eligible, though some managers are often lenient

Only way of finding the discount is to take it to checkout, and beware some stuff on special offer may cost more with your card, but they will give you the lower price if you ask.

Had one for years, they used to work on pretty much everything in the place but they have been reducing the range of eligible kit. That said they are also reducing the range of car consumables anyway, the range offered now and vehicles covered is very, very poor compared to say ten years ago and is not improving.
They do seem to do a lot of dangly odour eating bling type stuff or camping gear designed to die at the end of the season or first decent storm though, totally useless if your after some brake shoes or an oil filter for your less popular car…
The pro range is VERY good and well worth the money (the card gives good discount on the range btw).
Discount verges on acceptable to good for vehicle consumables (even better on own brand stuff) although you do have to be careful of special promotions (the card now removes the promotion and puts the item back to the original non-discounted price). A good example being their Headlight Bulbs.
Their parts ordering service though is absolutely pants… In fact it’s even worse than that and really is something to avoid!
You cannot ring them up to order a vehicle part in for collection that day as it must be paid for upfront and they won’t take the payment down the phone so you must go in the branch to order.
Really, really handy if you either live or work about 15 miles away from the nearest store so it adds at least 24 hours to getting the bits in. Unlike most other autofactors who will get the bits in that day if possible on the strength of a simple phone call so you can pick up and pay for later in the day.
As for the fitting service, lol…. Sad to say the star ‘fitter’ at a certain branch near the ex secret Wiltshire airfield was completely stumped when asked to change a headlight bulb in the Wife’s MX5, luckily daughter No 2 was with her and she changed it no problem.
