Never too Old for a Dogfight

Congratulations Frawls on getting official recognition of your achievements. I guess it is a long time ago you arrived at 36 Squadron.

Not so sure that he is the rightful claimant, but I may be wrong. I seem to remember Sqn Ldr Paul 'Major' Day AFC RAF being at or around 60 whilst flying Tornados, Spitfires and Hurricanes.

Maybe, wrong though...

PS. Still a massive achievement for the Oz mate, though.

I've just done a Google and I think the Guinness Book of Records need to look at this:

Sqn Ldr Geoff Timms MBE RAF was still flying Harriers for the RAF at the grand old age of 62 years old...

Familiar face of Zane Sennett in the Aussie Reserve newsletter 76 Sqn photograph, previously of the Cott/Witt parish and Reds iirc.

And Geoff Timms could do things with a Harrier that would make the heart sing.

Paul was still flying our two seat Spit last season, he's 70 now.

sing.
It was Geoff who showed me how to do a genuine-no-****-turn-around-on-a-stationary-point-in-space stall turn in a Harrier. I think it was my second ever trip in a Harrier and I was very grateful for years afterwards.

Take note that it looks to be that he is the oldest current serving FP, according to the record.

Oldest Current Fighter Pilot

Frawls is the oldest current QFI fighter pilot in the RAAF and. according to Guiness, in the world. He does not look like hanging up his helmet for a while yet. I am sure those mentioned by our British friends are all great achievers, however Frawls is still "doing it" at age 61 and climbing. Hope you all read the whole article as it tells the story of a man who is living his dream and helping others to do the same.
