A B707 Brazilian Air Force skidded off the runway
A B707 Brazilian Air Force skidded off the runway of Toussaint Louverture International Airport (MTPP) of Port au Prince, after an engine fails when the jet tried to take off. None of the 121 UN soldiers aboard the plane were injured
Champagne anyone...?
Thanks for the meaningless input CS. As usual.
Reporting on the subject is still very sketchy, ranging from departed the surface to engine fire and/or complete hull loss. Glad to hear all made it out ok.

Engine fire, ran off runway, nose gear failed, would imagine being in Haiti it won't be going anywhere sadly...

Brazil has had 4 KC-137s... B707s converted to aerial refuelers with wingtip hose pods (only 3 active as of March).
In March of this year they signed a contract with IAI to convert 2 (or 3, the article below says both) B767s to aerial refuelers, also with wingtip pods. Talk about a timely contract!!!

I guess we know which will be the first KC-137 replaced.

Well, I just walked around it, chaps, and it's pretty f****d, I'd say.
Looks like fwd bulkhead wrecked, and there's a worrying kink in the fuselage.
They've already painted-out all the markings, however...
The skid marks on RW10 are pretty impressive...
