Still got mine on my desk, the clock still works but it's been a while since I dared put batteries in the alarm.
We only had once incident with th ealarm function, where the latest of the armourers to leave set it to go off just when his flight out of Als garage was due to take off.
In order to enhance the effect, he put it in his recently vacated foot locker and padlocked it before waving goodbye. Unable to find the key at oh dark o'clock when it went off, the foot locker was thrown out of the tent onto the ring road, where it wailed away to itself

The trick was to
a) set alarm for 10 mins prior to final departure from the Magic Kingdom.
b) Secrete the offending item in the departing ones hand luggage.
c) Ensure the departee has had an adequate intake of sid, homebrew, etc.
As for me, they just filled my hand baggage with female underwear of the frilly type. It was certainly educational for the Saudi security guard.

We did a det to Abu Dhabi in 04 and a couple of JOs left an alarm clock for the next 2 JOs in to the room (change-over mid det). The first alarm clock set to go off for a rude awakening was relatively early to find. The second one was much better hidden but it was the third, hidden in the air conditioning that kept the 2 new boys awake for several mornings

Whilst on a family tour in Kuwait prior to saddams untimely intervention I purchased such an item. Leaving for work at about 05:30 I crawled under our huge (and very poorly manufactured) bed and left it set for about 05:50... when I arrived home a frosty reception awaited and it took me about a day and a half to reassemble the bed and bedroom worth it though

Gentlemen,
Regrettably, should I actually have to get up at some God awful unearthly hour nowadays (thankfully very few and far between)........ I actually still use mine.
On the other side of the bedroom and set to go off a couple of minutes after my normal alarm.
I think the threat of the bugger actually going off is enough to get me up to silence the blessed thing......
