For aviation + funny I can wholeheartedly recommend 'Three Cheers for me' by Donald Jacks.

"Winged Victory" WWI RFC Camel ops in 1918.

"Flight into Midnight" is controversial, but a gripping tale.

Third recommendation for Tritti.

"CW2 " by Lane Heath. Vietnam Scout Pilot.

"The Price of Exit" Vietnam slick pilot by Tom Marshall. Provocative and thoughtful.

There's also "Free As A Running Fox" by T D Calnan. A great story of a photo recce Spit pilot shot down and captured, and his frequent attempts to escape. Well written. Of course, again "Fly For Your Life", "Reach For The Sky", "Full Circle", "Flight Of The Intruder", "The Wooden Wolf", "Bomb Run".

There are so many more, both non fiction and fiction, great reading. Note no Alfred Price or Chaz Bowyer mentioned yet either. I am so glad I was at school the day they taught us to read.

There is absolutely nothing to equal or, even beat, Fate is the Hunter by Ernest K Gann. No pilot or aspiring pilot should be without it on his bookshelf.

100 Feet Over Hell: Flying With the Men of the 220th Recon Airplane Company Over I Corps and the DMZ, Vietnam 1968-1969 by Jim Hooper. Its another interesting perspective of the American war in Vietnam.
