RCAF Celebritails - Celebrating Famous Canadians

A link on Vintage Wings , sent to me by a friend in Canada:
Tails of Glory > Vintage Wings of Canada

What a great concept and what a lot of work by some anonymous graphic artists. Apart from Pamela Anderson (obviously), I particularly like the (Ice) Hockey-themed tails, which has led to a "Hockey Shootout Fighter Meet."

Just a few months after the first images were made public, Russian MiG-31 fighter aircraft of the 6979th Aviation Base at Kansk Air Base in Krasnoyarsk Krai have painted their aircraft with images of Valeri Kharmalov and Vladislav Tretiak of the 1972 Canada Russia Hockey Series fame. This led Canadians to institute a new Tiger Meet style gunnery invitational event called NATO Hockey Shootout Fighter Meet, combining flying, gunnery, bombing and hockey.
Like NHL shootouts during the All Star Game, the gunnery is judged on style as well as accuracy. Doing a Lomcevak while delivering a bomb is considered a high degree of difficulty.Teams are also required to bring enough men to make a hockey team and the results of a hockey tournament are also factored into the results of the meet.
Style points for mud-moving! Fanatastic.
