Another Doolittle Raider flies west
Thomas C. Griffin, one of the last remaining Doolittle raid crewmembers, passed last night at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Tom was navigator on the #9 aircraft to take off from the Hornet.

Doolittle Raider 80 Brave Men
We have to remember....that Raid was the start of their War....and what a tremendous achievement it was. Quite a few of them were killed in action as they served in combat in the years following the Raid.
Fascinating read..........
Years ago in Pima Air Museum in Tucson met and chatted to an old timer who flew B29's into Japan. Remember being in awe of him as he wiled away some time chatting about flights into Japan.
I did ask him was he scared which seemed a bit trite but he smiled and said I was always scared and always happy to be back on the ground. Now I get to explain to young uns what I did and I swear that some must think I am making it all up but happy to be able to do that because means I'm still around.
