So rumours of a lack of stick-monkeys in the training pipeline are unfounded?

With delays in the carrier project, an RN feasibility study is already underway.

What concrete proposals are there for the Barrow?

Or are the MOD already too set in their ways?

More news just in from BAE ...

Here is the SAR Variant. The RAF are interested as a possible replacement for their SAR Seaking fleet (the winch has still to be fitted).

A pure Bomber Variant is available but can be modified to meet specific customer needs and operational requirements. Seen here in a pre camouflage primer "orange" finish. Anti-Flash White is available as an additional customer "colour" option.

A really interesting HC Variant next. Again the RAF are interested as a possible replacement for their HC Puma fleet.

I understand the next Variant is a possible contender for the RAF AT (Herc) and SHLT (C-17) future capability.

Finally a very hush hush concept drawing of the possible AWAC's Variant.

There are rumours of an AAR Variant ... but still no pictures as yet

Best ...

Coff.

F3WMB ... Outstanding ! You've successful discovered a rare picture of the original BAE "Proof of Concept" AAR Variant ... it would appear from my extensive research through Jane's that the Production Variant is likely to look more like this. You'll note the duel Fuel Flow Controls and Delivery Hose (in furled mode)

Still more information emerging from BAE ...

Trials of the Stealth Barrow Technology, which can be retro-fitted to all Barrow Variants, is well advanced.

A Naval Variant is nearing the "Release to Service" stage.

BAE have also developed what they call "Infantry Proofing Technology" ... again retro-fitting is available for customers.

And, of course, the equipment is useful for senior officers to run their houshold budgets (if you will permit thread crossing).

And,for those summer evenings, there is the variant suitable for use with Mess Kit...
