I wonder what the emissions based road tax would be, to enable me to taxi it off my drive....

I did my first 1st Pilot flight in this very jet, a LL Wazex round Wales.

Wonder if that gets me a discount (like about 95%)?

They've hoovered all the Banana skins out of it since then...

No engines Si. So it's a glorified soapbox cart.

First trip on 14 Jan 91 when it arrived on 56 - on an Advanced radar sortie. Not sure I'd have paid that much for the experience though! At least it's not going to scrap which seems to be the norm nowadays.

Some soapbox cart - this was the first 4-wheeled vehicle I was ever qualified to drive

(I only had a motorbike licence on the road. Oh, and no bananas yet, I was a staggeringly average stude pilot on this course.).

It did an earlier turn on the OCU, I flew it on 4 and 5 July 88

Why not just keep it as ZE 256, it's 'real' number!

Wouldn't be seen dead in a 11(Bomber) Sqn jet...

The guy restoring it was once a rigger on XI Sqn. He says in the company blurb that there's a personal connection. I would imagine he had a trip in ZE343 or his name on the side. ZE256 is still on the fin port side.

The airframe might be in quite good condition because I never flew her.

Do you think they would give a discount, if you took the GR1 as well, might look nice either side od the driveway.

I somehow can't see Jeremy Clarkson rushing to stick it in his front garden.

They should replace the F3 gate guardian at Coningsby with it - both the F3 and F4 there are in a disgracefully scruffy state, partially covered with moss and other stuff

I think we should all have a whip-round and save the old girl for posterity on behalf of F3WMB

Decent of you, Coffman; but to quote Blackadder, I think you'd have to have the Ppruners roundly whipped rather than relying on a whip-round. Times is 'ard.

We could always stuff him and have him mounted in the cockpit suitably adorned to add the little bit of realism.

Not too keen on 'stuffed'. Happy to be pickled. Send cases of Pol Roger Vintage, PM for address and list of acceptable vintages. Be warned - this will be a slow process.
