There used to be a saying about uniform as issued 'If it fits, you're deformed'. Looks like that has been resurrected and made an instrument of policy!

I saw a stacker wearing the new issue RAF blue uniform today. And to be honest it looked awful. Looked like everything was two sizes too big. If it fitted properly then it might be ok. But honestly whats the point in blue pcs? If you want to save on costs of uniform then stick everyone in PCS for day to day work wear, and keep a set of ones for formal occasions.

I was in the RAF but attached to 24 Brigade (604 FAC). In 1970 we were on exercise in Germany. It was VERY muddy and we were all in "combat clothing" in hastily dug trenches. The AOC Germany paid a visit - he and his ADC were in their best blue with greatcoats (but no sword), tippy-toeing around muddy duckboards in their shiny shoes. I bet someone had an interview without coffee after that incident!
