Forces Discount

Not strictly Aviation related but I only learnt today (after being with Vodafone for 10 years) that they offer a 20% discount plan on any price plan if you are serving military. So, my new contract for £41 was reduced to £28 per month for a new phone!!

Such a shame that I can't claim retrospectively for the last 10 years discounts!!

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-...cid=rdr-711-01

If MODS want to move this I understand - but it make for a decent military discount in my eyes

£41 to £28 is more than 30% off, not 20%. Is that a loyalty discount of some sort on top of the military discount?

Haha!! Not a PTi, only in look and physique! ;-)

The reduction to £28 was including the 20% and some loyalty thing too, so yes a 30% reduction not to swap to '3'.

Thanks for that, having been with Vodafone for many years I think I'll be going in to bat for a discount tomorrow. TVM!

sounds good, but the cynic in me says that you're getting nothing more than they would offer to any of their other customers after a bit of persistence!

Grimmers - as a still serving member of HM's finest and looking for a new phone package, I thank you for your post.

Now if I can only find a BMW bike dealer that will give a 20% discount on a second hand R1200RT or GS Adventure??

Applies to new contracts only, cannot be applied halfway through a contract.

It's a standard Employee Advantage Programme. See the Vodafone website for details.
It took several phonecalls and emails to a towerblock in Mumbai to finally get them to honour the 20% discount, but honour it they have.

Check this discussion forum out if you want to try and get a backdated discount

Recently upgraded iPhone 3GS to 4S. Orange offered 20% discount on their tariff, but that only brought it down to tariff that O2 were offering without discount. O2 gave £75 credit to following bills. Went with O2.

Not just engineers - I'm aircrew and I've got one! I went into Halfords in Lincoln and filled out the form and showed my MOD90 - job done.

You can get discounts on lots of things, whether you're military or civilian. You only have to ask. Most people don't.

Have a word with the military sales guy at Park Lane and see what deal you can get.

Guys, Orange should give you 25% off the package cost and you can have an additional 4 phones on separate packages (wife and kids...) under the same contract, each with the same 25% discount.
