Ironic, as Sqn Ldr MacFarlane is an ex Chinook pilot!

Interesting though: "Heating experts de-iced the helicopter allowing it to fly to Glenmore Lodge, before it was flown to RAF Lossiemouth"

Why not fly it back to Lossie under its own steam if it could make it to Glenmore Lodge?

I think you've fallen into the same trap I did. The second half of the BBC story relates to the 1997 incident - not the same incident as the top half of the story!

Saw the airframe on low loaders eastbound on the A96 near Forres this evening. Fuselage sans sponsons and tail rotor on first truck; tail, spons and other sundry bits on second truck.
