Britain’s oldest Royal Air Force ex-officer has died at the age of 105.

From the Yorkshire Evening Post
"Frank Bagshaw, from Horsforth, Leeds, joined the newly-formed Royal Air Force in 1925 soon after it had been formed as successor to the Royal Flying Corps.
Born in Pontefract, he joined as a career serviceman at the age of 19 and served for 38 years. His only surviving relative, daughter Marjorie, said he joined at the lowest rank as a “rigger and carpenter.” He rose to become Warrant Officer and Flight Lieutenant."

I think this gentleman might be the latest holder of the title 'King Brat' - an honour given to the oldest Halton Apprentice. I think this guy was in 12th Entry. Somebody will know.

Apprentices

There were apprentices before Halton though. First ones were at Flowerdown near Winchester then at Cranwell.

The Ancient Mariner (and no, I wasn't one of them but my F-i-L was)
