817 Squadron decommission and Sea King final flight

Well its an end of an era for the RAN Sea King operations

817 Squadron Final Flight - Royal Australian Navy

I wonder if there is any future of the airframes barring museum exhibits or for technical training? I know they're the Yeovil product and from what I can gather its only former Stratford produce S-61 that end up being re born so to speak by the likes of Coulson, Vector and Erickson (re LASD Air 5) or CHC, but wonder if the Sea Kings shall be sold off or re acquired by Yeovil to be refitted with Carson blades and added to the CHF inventory as a temporary stop gap measure pre Merlin entering the Junglie fraternity?

Cheers

That's neither funny nor convincing

Come on OOFA - it's not entirely unfunny.......bit unrealistic maybe, but it made me titter a bit! Could be more than a stopgap when they pull the plug on the whole giveaway (when the moneymen discover they're going to have to spend an awful lot more money)

I was reading that on the defence web site yesterday.

Defence News and Media » Sea Kings make their final flight

Also, since the Navy didn't provide photos, 4 pages of photos on this link here, some of which are quite good.

A sad day for the Sea King world...

Gets me thinking which country will be the last to operate Sea Kings in a military role. Care to bet on it?

IŽll say Germany. Shortly before us the Norwegians will decommission theirs.
