Not quite correct ST my old china, you can continue to fly for hire or reward over the age of 60 in a 2 crew aircraft provided the other crewmember is below age 60 to a maximum of age 65. It therefore follows that you are correct with regards to solo pilot ops.

...respect your opinion on this matter but I would disagree. When the regulations for WRAF to leave on pregnancy were in force, it wasn't discrimination, it was the rules. It is very easy to judge yesterday's rules by today's standards. My sister was one of those who had to leave.
And yes it was clearly discrimination. You are right a couple having a baby is a lifestyle choice...and so is who stays at home and raises it. It can be both parents, neither parent (hire a nanny) or either mum or dad. That is the modern world we live in and trashing a women's career because a couple have decided to have a baby is nonsense and wrong every which way you look at it....as wrong as it has been illegal ever since 1975.

In 2002 when I left the service at 55, I was offered, and seriously considered taking a one year extension.
The major drawback was that my gratuity would not be paid until completion of the extension. I could live without that, but I was also told that should I not survive for the year, my wife would receive a significantly lower gratuity based on the widows pension.
