What a cracking photograph........

Posted on the SAAF forums and just had to post it here....

Best seat in the house?????

Last Shuttle of the Space Shuttle "ENDEAVOR" flight from KSC, 5-16-2011. A seriously nifty photo of Monday's shuttle launch - from the best seat in the house....an F-15E Strike Eagle at 26 thousand feet over the east coast: the protective combat air patrol for the launch......

And from another launch

Awesome photos.

I saw a similar photo from a civilian / commercial flight that also happened to be passing the area at the same time. The Captain had informed the passengers to keep a look out as they may see the Endeavor and by chance they did.

I'll try to find the picture.

Edit

I was lucky enough to be at the Kennedy Space Centre a few years ago and watched a night launch of Atlantis. I have had a soft spot for that shuttle ever since and my computer wallpaper is one of the photos taken of it latched to the ISS on its last trip.

It is still the only thing I have seen that can burn through money faster than my wife.

An interesting site. This is from the same page.

What's going on here? Is this a trick of photography or just superb flying?

I saw that. The text said it was part of the display but didn't have time to check up the Blue Angel's web site.

That is a standard part of the Blue Angels display.
No.5 is further away from the camera.

Ah yes, of course it is.

I never noticed despite oggling at it for a while but number 5 appears shorter then 6.

Good picture though. I wonder what it's called? The Missionary Position perhaps.
