Chinook Forced Landing in France
I don't speak or read French, so I had to rely on Google Translate for this version:
I couldn't help but laugh at the "it was learned from the police, and driver, slightly intoxicated, had to be hospitalized."

A Chinook heavy lift helicopter for the Royal Air Force (RAF) has asked emergency today in a field of Dordogne, after a smoke in the cockpit, it was learned from the police, and driver, slightly intoxicated, had to be hospitalized.

The pilot had time to run multiple times over the town of Musselburgh before you choose a field that acts as camping and empty right now, to land without much damage other than "some branches torn off, and damage to the pergola and the neighbor's roof, "according to police.
The driver was transported to the hospital emergency de Bergerac, the other military bien.Un with other RAF Chinook had to happen at midnight with hardware troubleshooting and both devices should be left tomorrow morning, Constable concluded .

Well done to the crew for putting it down in the gastronomic centre of France - I hope they found a nice restaurant tonight. Shame about the pilot who inhaled though. He should have stuck to the OASC standard line.

P.S. Glad they're down safe, hope no permanent pergola or other damage was done to anyone or anything.

Used to be lots of smoking in the cockpit and the cabin in the old days!
Some of us who hated the smoking habit in the cockpit did our best to litter the Belizean jungle floor with "accidentally jettisoned through the window" ashtrays. We eventually ran the local RAF stores clean out of them.
after a smoke in the cockpit, it was learned from the police, and driver, slightly intoxicated, had to be hospitalized.
Somehow I think the response will be different this time.
Glad they are ok.
Glad all OK - a bit further north on their route home and they could have called in for tea. Had a Chinook low over our village S Vendee) last year. Glad safe return to terra firma, and hope pilot soon recovered.
