RAAF Pilot - Contact Lenses
Hi.
I'm in Yr 11 and I am wanting to become a pilot in the RAAF. I already accept that my chances are slim, but I believe I will be able to pass the tests.
I currently wear contact lenses as both my eyes are approximately -1.00 dioptres.
I have contacted Defence recruiting, they did not give me a clear answer.
I have asked numerous RAAF pilots, and they have not given me a clear answer if i can JOIN with poor eyesight.
I have read through many threads on this website, but still cannot find a clear answer.
The defence force recruiting website states that applicants should not wear contact lenses for 2 days prior to the YOU session.
I am not considering either form of laser eye surgery.
1. Should I either bring or wear my contact lenses to the YOU session?
2. Do you know of anyone who has become a pilot (in the RAAF) with EXISTING poor eyesight?
Thank you.

I think its more of a case by case thing. Best to just talk to the recruiters about it. There's a wealth of info here too: http://www.pprune.org/military-aircr...am-merged.html
