Another carrier thread.....

...not sure if this has been posted, but no matter which camp you are in carrier wise, this is a sad end.

I did my Blind Pilotage Course on Invincible. Sorry to see her go but they were very lightly built ships, same as T42s. I'm not surprised that Hermes has outlived her by so long, but she was built to different standards. sayanara.

That is an interesting point Navaleye, but to the OP, perhaps it's best to let her go with some distant dignity.

Fellas its just a bit of scrap metal. If it was that important they would have kept it. By the way what is it supposed to be?

Ok, I'll bite.

You really do go out of your way to be obtuse, don't you?

"It" (the RN calls them "She") is what is left of HMS INVINCIBLE. Oddly enough, naval personnel tend to get quite attached to ships they've served in, so seeing her come to this sad end kind of annoys us.

I'll let you decide for yourself whether or not she was important. I think her record of service speaks for itself.

What, you mean like Maritime Patrol Aircraft that cost $4bn? Or Harriers? Or any number of frigates? Or the other aircraft carrier?
