Congress Stop Work order on GE/RR F136 for F35

Congress issues stop-work order on F136 as GE, RR self fund | Australian Aviation Magazine

How do the non US future operators feel about having only 1 engine choice for their fleet, with no competition to force production and support costs down?

I work for the General - not in the aero engine division - and we had an explanatory missive, specifically on the subject of the F136, from the CEO to all GE employees. Not entirely unknown for a corporate 'broadcast', especially on matters like hurricane Katrina, the Boxing Day Tsunami and the Japanese earthquake, because these could affect all parts of the company, but on a subject such as a particular jet engine, its pretty unusual.

I read nothing in to this, but others might find it significant.

Roger.

...and I believe the F135 is already hitting snags that might drive the price up!
