Whoa back there guys. There are several mods on PPRuNe and it is no longer our tool - the owners expect us to exercise control, and remember thread starters can delete a thread.

The rules you all signed up for are there for everyone to see and yet just of late it seems that anything goes. What do you expect us to do? Do you really think that because you call anything that has a margin on it counts as banter? You have to play by those rules you signed up for - there is no half-way house. You can banter all you like but you cannot abuse PPRuNe for your own ends and expect mods to ignore it. We have a job to do. Very difficult at times but we do give leeway. You will have to accept that when it goes too far we will do what we think is necessary. Its not that tough for you to think before you submit a post is it?

Its all a cunning plan.

Cutbacks have gone to far and Baggers has been drafted back to the pointy end to make up the numbers for Libya...

Threads pulled for opsec u-know

PPRuNe Pop

No problem with your decisions but what is the difference between the "Tipsy & Wurz" thread - which was just a written version of what goes on in Officer's Mess's / Dining in nights anyway - and the thread "Mrs Bloggs 'At Home' Etiquette/Protocols" which was one of the best threads on PPRuNe.

c130jbloke, no I am not a Moderator.

However, I absolutely endorse PPRuNe Pop's statement; certain posts on this site had exceeded the PPRuNe Ts&Cs and a cull was clearly needed.

My best wishes to your recently retired colleagues; I hope that they will enjoy their retirement and will always reflect on their service with fond memories.

500N in answer to your question.

"Mrs Bloggs 'At Home' Etiquette/Protocols" it was NOT deleted as you wrongly assume. It received its last post on 6th Jan 2011. After that, when all the steam has dissipated, it left the forum and now lies 'asleep' many pages down in the abyss of PPRuNe's archives. That can happen even after ONE day on the front page. Such is the turnover of threads in making way for others.

You are strictly prohibited from posting or transmitting any unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, or profane material that could constitute or encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.
Sounds a bit like Wurzel's last appraisal

To all,

Fair play and thanks for the replies. I personally thought the Bagwell thread was pretty benign, and I do admit to having a thing about the "correct" dress ( or I am just anal ) but I see where you are coming from.

500N is not saying that the Mrs Bloggs thead was deleted, quite the opposite

Apologies, my lack of clarity.

Just for interest sake and understanding the boundaries, why was one deleted and one not when both related to external social military activities.

I understand "You are strictly prohibited from posting or transmitting any unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, or profane material that could constitute or encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law."

but a bit of banter, pxxs taking which is just what happens at Dining in Nights and "Top Table Kangaroo Courts". I thought service people were thicker skinned than that !!!.

Strange

This is an oddly moderated forum.
I posted a thread this evening asking about a snr officer being interviewed in Italy about deployed aircraft ops. He was wearing a flight suit and I wondered if he had flown himself there or not, maybe like that chap in the Battle of Britain who flew a Hurricane whilst wearing a white boiletr suit.
Now that seems to have disappeared and I've had a pm from somebody who kindly answered my question and said my thread appeared to be "blocked" ?? i can't see what my post did that was wrong

Never mind, as stated in my thread I admire the efforts of our Forces folk in the present situation when they're already so stretched. I hope it's acceptable to give praise where it's due.

One isn't sure and welcome's correction, but I don't think that all the mods are, necessarily, all mil/ex-mil...

On a lighter note....

Shouldn't inflammatory come after pornographic
Works for me

Serious head on..

Love the "improved" site with the removal of the dreaded code to prevent spam posting through to the cool auto mini links you now get when posting you tube stuff
