Nice shots -- like the Islander particularly. Wonder what the two odd-looking boxes aft of the nosewheel are for? Or does the black Omega with smoked windows pitch up at 0300 if we go there

With defence cutbacks the Omega's have gone.

Look out for a 1989 Sherpa Van in drab green

He he he he. That made me laugh.

(Wouldn't be driven by a privately sub contracted Israeli would it)?

This is no ordinary light utility aircraft, this is an M+S light utility aircraft.

They're just extra strength panels for the pilot seat mount in case any lynx pilots convert onto the plank.

And there was me thinking they were the sneaky-beaky chemtrail generators.

I believe the original batch of BN-2Ts that ZG847 is from were actually designated Islander AL1s. The Defender 4000s procured later for Op Telic were Defender AL1s. But maybe that's just what spotters call them

Ah but the main question is do you get a crinkled chip cut on your forehead if you walk into the trailing edge of the flaps. If you do its an islander, never been near enough to a jet A burner to draw blood.

Trex450 is correct - it is an AL1 Islander. Defenders are longer and have a larger vertical strake ahead of the fin.

I guess if you want to be really pedantic, it's 'Islander AL.1'

True (and a bald git as well), but it's genetic and not the result of an eating disorder
