Flt Lt Paddy Roche RIP

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that ex Vulcan AEO Paddy Roche died in Dublin on 4 Jan.

Paddy had been in and out of hospital twice before Christmas, and was taken in again at the end of the year with septicaemia and pneumonia from which he didn't recover.

I don't own this space under my name. I should have leased it while I still could

Flew many trips with Paddy. He enjoyed life to the full. Last saw him at Newark a few years ago. Condolences to Maureen.

Did he work in Stn Ops at Gutersloh? Ex 360 Canberra?
If so I may have had a chat with him on occasion over many a wobblie.

Yes Yozzer, Paddy was an Ops Officer in COC Gutersloh, I was stationed there with him 1980 - 1983.

We were on DE 109 together at No 1 A.S.S. Swanton Morley Jan '54 - Jan '55. Well remembered for good talk and generosity. R.I.P. indeed.

One of life's true characters and a real gent. Always there to offer a helping hand and genuine advice to the much less experience.

Had much fun with him on 360 and Vulcans. Detachments were always a grade one hoot.

RIP Paddy. See you upstairs.
