Thank you, a great story of a very fine gentleman. Reminds me of the publican and his family who looked after us on a combat survival course. We had no money, no food of course, he turned out to be ex-fleet air arm. And, we had one of their pilots with us. Steak and chips all round and a few beers, sandwiches for the next few days and his delightful daughter drove us back in the snow to our ‘survival’ camp. Just send the money he said. We did of course but never thought of building a school for them.
On a more serious note; for anyone who is interested in this ‘real’ survival story and the aftermath, his autobiography is:
The School That Fell From The Sky ISBN 978-1589091160
