Morecambe Bay 0630
Woken up to a deafening aircraft noise today at 0630. Aircraft very low over Morecambe. Didn't see it although it sounded fast. I thought Military ac were restricted over towns etc, particularly at certain times of day.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
The entire street is talking about it

Some towns have restrictions but not all and there is no time limit .... I can assure you though that it wasn't an RN aircraft....we don't start work until 7.30....(normally finished and on our way ashore by Stand Easy)

Could have been an RN Hawk...they are fast. Or a Harrier, they are fast as well.... Or maybe it was an F18 with an RN pilot in it....F18s are quite fast....but it was probably a Tornado.. They are fast
That early in the morning it might possibly have been a USAF F-15 out of RAF Lakenheath?

Last time I remember low flying aircraft over Morcambe was when Jerry attacked 5 Group HQ in a hotel on the sea front circa 1941/42. Came in at roof-top hight and machine gunned the streets as well as bombing the hotel. Got bombed out of our house on the same raid.

Mandator, you are right.
That's what comes of reading one subject while typing another!
There was an RAF contingent in one of the seafront hotels at that time, but can't recall exactly what it was.
