MOD Financial Research

If this is in the wrong place Mods please forgive me but this is on another website and just released and might be of interest to at least some on the forum..

Armed Forces Personnel? MOD financial research. The MOD wants to investigate how serving hits your finances (eg. getting a mortgage or going overseas) and it's asked us to ask you...

Hopefully this one will be kept open as after a quick look at the criteria it could serve some puropose in helping service personnel with their finances.
MSE is a pretty good site, so if Martin Lewis thinks its OK then

It is a very good programme, born of the 2008 "The Nation’s Commitment: Cross-Government Support to our Armed Forces, their Families and Veterans" Defence Paper.

http://www.mod.uk/NR/rdonlyres/415BB...2/0/Cm7424.pdf

Although tacked on at the last minute, and only done so because of the Crunch:

"The Government will seek to remove residual discrimination against them and their families when trying to access financial products, particularly when they are serving overseas or living in single accommodation. It will also continue to work with the Financial Services Authority to improve financial awareness amongst Service personnel."

Part of the reason behind the programme to ensure financial independence and stability, is because its now recognised that pro rata, so many more ex servicemen become homeless or fall foul of the law, than do civilians who have never served in HM Forces.
