Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

Airline Specific Private Forums

Since this forum has morphed from

Military Aircrew A forum for the professionals who fly the non-civilian hardware, and the backroom boys and girls without whom nothing would leave the ground. Army, Navy and Airforces of the World, all equally welcome here.

Military Aircrew A forum for the professionals who fly the non-civilian hardware, and the backroom boys and girls without whom nothing would leave the ground, and retired know it alls who think things should still be done the way it was done in their day (the world has moved on, so should you), and the odd civvy who wanted to join but never got round to it, and the wannabes who can’t be bothered to read the sticky post. Army, Navy and Airforces of the World, all equally welcome here.
do you think there is scope for a private forum, just for current serving members, as NATS, the police and most of the airlines have? Still keep this forum for the questions/reminisces non serving members have but have our own space for the discussion of current topics without all the thread drift and distractions.

This has been raised quite a few times, and the answer as always been a resounding No.

Oh, and the police don't have their own private forum. PAS is Police Aviation Services, a contract company that supplies pilots to Police Aviation units.

First reply by, yes you've guessed it, a non-serving forum member.

...and the PAS forum is not now visited by anyone who works for that company any more (it's had 6 posts since Dec 2009, all in the same thread) - even the Moderator has found employment elsewhere - so it's probably not the best example for you to quote!

P'raps m'learned colleague MGem could've expressed PAS' position in the civvy world as "PAS.... supplies pilots and other services to some (less than half of all) Police Aviation units.

As a corollary, why not close all those private sites that are not used? Then it would not take so long to scroll down to Jet Blast.

If this thread is an example of the sort of current topic discussed in such a private forum, it's likely it would become merely a Sideshow, Bob!

No-one uses the BA private forum either. Not serving anymore either so perhaps my view doesn't count (!) but I'm still interested in what's going on in the armed forces and I think some of the discussions have benefited considerably from external contributors.
