My understanding is that the new coalition government have a markedly less sandaholic attitude to defence requirements and accept that the UK should be thinking beyond the current obsession with Afghanistan.....
So there are no sacred cows or preserved budgets; everything will be up for scrutiny.

Would love to say you're right but I doubt it - Trident is unlikely to have more than a more cursory glance, and I think that CVF will make it. Things like FSTA PFI nonsense is going to bleed the RAF until we in effect nationalise AirTanker in the same way as that arch-socialist Boris Johnson nationalised the Tube Lines PFI provider.
Doom and gloom would be a great result under these circumstances.
