Thumbs up Question For Canadian Forces

I was delighted to be told today that it was the norm to be bought a cup of coffee by a Canadian in the queue in front of me today whilst I queued at the Rail Station. He said "It's normal for people in Canada to buy their Forces a drink/coffee if they are waiting in uniform as a way of saying 'Thank you' ". I was very humbled, thanked him in conversation, shook his hand and left.

Question for Canadians - is this normal?

LJ

Yeah - Canada!

Can't speak for Canada specifically, but it is not at ALL unusual south of the 49th parallel.

Mate this Q completely threw me for a bit then I remembered my Timmy Hortons experience at KAF a while back...

I think its actually Cruller? See below for a Cruller - or "tractor tyre"

Anyway, sadly neither of the above as I was in the UK. However, I am still deeply impressed by this custom and I am deeply honoured by our 'colonial' cousin's simple act of generosity.
