Squadron to be disbanded

Hot rumour mill (from the cleaners no less) suggests LXX Squadron RAF is for the axe, possibly by the end of June. Any one got more?

Surely if a squadron were to go it would be 30, whose history would seem less illustrious?

Not heard that rumour. However,

could it be that it is being disbanded to re-form with A400M?

(assuming the A400M ever finally arrives).

Now Now jackonicko - play nice!

The thread was about LXX, not 30 so stop your handgrenade fishing.

All the Sqns that are left have illustrious histories, all have lost many members and have many recognitions, awards and battle honours...... even 30 as the first air delivery sqn at Kut-Al-Amarah in April 1916.

So if a sqn gets disbanded, it is for the needs of Defence at the time, the Sqn may get reformed in a different guise, who knows.

If the rumour is true, and it is just a rumour on a forum, lets sing the praises of 'Love and Kisses' LXX and wish it well in the future, rather than snipe elsewhere. As because you and I know these things are very emotive for some and what every displeasure that is vented here will not effect the outcome.

reduce reuse recycle

I think that for the present numbers are being reduced the personnel recycled to other airframes.
