Unfortunately, today's flying programme was scrubbed due to the weather at Kinloss. The crosswind has remained steadily out of limits all day so far; but we did try!. We're still holding the UK's SAR commitment, though as it is due to ease later tonight.

RIP old buddy. You flew me all over the world between 1972 & 1993, accompanied by a really good bunch of blokes. So sorry that you will be out of action for a while (bl00dy politicians). I look forward to seeing your son in the skies around Salisbury.

To echo Spocks sentiment. Rest easy old friends, your wings carried me for nearly a year in the air and literally twice around the globe, with barely a hiccup.

If your offspring is half as good as it is supposed to be its' future crews will soon coax it to the forefront in every field of operations.

To those with long memories of maritme, enjoy your retirement. To those who follow, good luck and God speed wherever you go.

The Guernsey press reported the flypast by 201 (Guernsey’s own) sqn Nimrod:

Nimrod MR2?s last hurrah News This Is Guernsey

The people never forget the affiliation between the island and the squadron beginning in the dark days of the 1940s.

The 201 Sqn association has an excellent museum in St Peter Port.

Hi srobarts you should have hung around! We were about 8 miles back waiting for the twin otter who was doing his best against the 40 kts on the nose! Did one final approach and then climbed out for the last time. There are some piccies: Nimrod retirement today - please add pictures - Page 4 - Key Publishing Ltd Aviation Forums

Best wishes

Buster

I was hoping in all this we might have had a flypast at "HQ Coastal Command" (UKMAOC)
